The Global Network for Studies on Colonial Processes (REPEC) is an academic research internationalization project proposed by the Federal University of Sergipe through its International Center for Arab and Islamic Studies (CEAI-UFS). The Network seeks to address the urgent need to foster scientific dialogue and institutional strengthening from a “South–South” perspective. To this end, the Network aims to promote the decentralization of knowledge production on different dimensions of colonial processes, drawing from peripheral epistemologies in international relations, languages, and philosophy. Its objective is to create and strengthen connections with international universities and institutes that share these epistemological concerns, in order to offer new theoretical and methodological approaches to the subject.

The “Arab World and Diasporas” Reading Club was launched in July 2021 with the aim of broadening our discussion horizons regarding literature produced in the Arabic language and its diasporas. Over the years, several literary works have been discussed, often with the participation of their respective translators. The meetings serve as a space for exchanging perspectives and engaging in dialogue about the books. Anyone is welcome to join the virtual sessions — participation is free of charge and requires only registration through an online form made available at the beginning of each year.

The International Center for Arab and Islamic Studies (CEAI) is committed to academic research and to promoting innovative methodologies for the study of the so-called “Middle East.” For this reason, it holds annual academic immersion activities with guest researchers, aimed at developing multiple spaces for collective learning and methodological experimentation.
